Vote for the Girls is NOT Shutting Down

Ava here: While I was looking through my Facebook feeds and blogrolls and given the fact last year THIS site (Vote for the Girls) pretty much had a huge advantage this year after Vote for the Worst shut down.

Make the Switch to Vote for the Girls

Make the Switch

As I learned last month after it was believed that I was acquiring the votefortheworst.com domain, just as the site’s domain was about to expire, it was renewed by the the competitor’s owner or by someone connected to that site..

But today, I learn from another competitor–Vote Against the Producers of this announcement on its Facebook Page from Lawrence Hedrick:

It looks like I am going to shut down this page. It is not because anyone has intimidated me or threatened me. And nobody is causing me to remove this. It is my own personal choice. I am doing it voluntarily. The reason I am doing this is because I am getting sick of talent shows. I have many better things to do. In fact, the last two year, it has become a chore to watch them. Sure, I had fun with American Idol back when it was big and the only BIG talent show out there. But now there are so many other talent shows, that they are just becoming a joke. And now with American Idol dropping in ratings, it’ll just make it look like any other talent show out there. Talent shows are pretty much a joke as of today in my opinion. I might eventually watch one sometime in the future, but as of now, I have had it with them. I might come back some day, but I have come to realize that talent shows are not that big of a deal. They are made to entertain us, not to run our lives. And personally, I think they are becoming a waste of time. Not to mention that they are so scripted now. That’s why I started this page in the first place. Once again, it is me that’s removing this page, not anyone else. I am not scared of anyone. I could just as easily keep this page and promote it, but I have more important things to do. I enjoyed being here with the time I had. Good-Bye for now. I may see you again in the future. It won’t be soon before long…

That being said, Vote for the Girls pretty much has a big advantage so here is my thought about this:

After hearing about VFTW and VATP closures, only Ava Zinn (yours truly) WILL NOT and CANNOT shut down VFTG USA or VFTG UK anytime soon (even if the producers of the talent shows offered me $100 TRILLION to shut VFTG down, I’ll decline the offer). As a transgendered woman 31 years of age I don’t mind that watching the talent shows in America or Great Britain a chore to watch them. Sure, I had fun with American Idol two years before Vote for the Girls even launched and VFTW was the only MAJOR site that tried (and pretty much succeeded) back when it was big and the only BIG talent show out there. But now with The X Factor USA, The Voice of America, Rising Star, and a new talent show by Nigel Lythgoe being green-lit by CBS, Dave Della Terza and Lawrence Hedrick see talent shows as ‘just becoming a joke’.  There’s one thing that I, Ava Zinn, have that neither Della Terza or Hedrick have–neither of them ever auditioned for talent shows while I did audition for the 11th season of American Idol in Pittsburgh as a contestant then 28 years of age. It was that audition that changed my life forever, and it has gotten this site six victories (three from The Voice of America, two from The X Factor USA, and one from American Idol). American Idol may be dropping in ratings, it’ll just make it look like any other talent show out there. Talent shows are pretty much a serious business in my opinion. Unlike VFTW and VATP, it is my decision to KEEP Vote for the Girls and promote the site. It’s pretty much a full-time job yet rewarding when a Vote for the Girls Victory happens after all the hard work is done, but other than that it is really something that’s become more a hobby and not getting paid, but we could use the donations for advertising.

As always, we keep encouraging you to vote for the ladies.
